Johnson, Thornley to marry in May

Harriet Crenshaw Johnson of Montgomery and Mr. and Mrs. William Sigler Johnson of Greenville announce the engagement of their daughter, Elizabeth Hall Johnson, to John Scott Thornley, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Brent Thornley of Jasper.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Henry Farrior Crenshaw and late Mr. Crenshaw of Montgomery, Mrs. Armistead Robison Harper of Camden, the late Colonel Harper (retired) of Monroeville, and the late Arthur Leslie Johnson Sr. of Camden.

She is a graduate of the University of Mississippi where she was a member of Chi Omega Social Fraternity.

Miss Johnson resides in Birmingham and is employed by the Shelby County Board of Education.

Mr. Thornley is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Herman Walter Maddox of Jasper and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Robert Ball and John Hunter Thornley of Evergreen.

He is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Alabama and received his juris doctorate from the University of Alabama School of Law.

Mr. Thornley is an attorney with the firm of Maddox, Thornley and Sanders in Jasper.

A May wedding is planned in Greenville.
