The 2007 Greenville Parks and Recreation Department youth baseball season got underway Monday night with an opening ceremony and the first two games of the season.

The Dixie Minors got the season started with the Red Sox taking on the Braves and the Orioles taking on the Indians.

Here are those results:

Red Sox 5, Braves 3

Although the Braves took an early 2-1 first-inning lead, the Red Sox rallied to score three runs in the final inning Monday to take the win, 5-3.

Ryan Burkett got the first hit of the 2007 season with a first-inning single and he also led the Sox at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Nic Hartley and Drake Cabe were also each 2-for-3 and both players scored one run apiece.

Justice Taylor also had a hit for the Sox while Daniel Hall Autrey scored a run.

For the Braves, Dalton Weeks had a double while Anthony Dunbar, Draklin Scoggins and Rashad Crenshaw each scored a run.

The Red Sox will take on the Indians Thursday night at 6 p.m., and the Braves will take on Yankees at 7:30 p.m.

Indians 8, Orioles 5

The Indians scored four runs in the fifth inning Monday to break open an early 3-3 tie as they took the win over the Orioles, 8-5.

For the Indians, Dalton Hood and Steven Cook were each 1-for-2, including a double by Cook.

Chardarrius Davison was the team's leading scorer with two runs scored, followed by Brandon Blackmon, Will Smith, Cody Parker, Steiner Hamilton, Jeffrey Smith and Tanner Pouncey with one run scored apiece.

Cody Harrell was the leading hitter for the Orioles, going 1-for-1 with two runs scored.

Brady Vincent, Ross Till and Chris Wilson also each scored one run apiece for the Orioles.

The Indians will return to action Thursday as they take on the Red Sox at 6 p.m. The Orioles will take on the Yankees Saturday at 9 a.m.
