Just like they did in football and in basketball, the Fort Dale boy's junior varisty baseball team will compete for the state championship this weekend as the Eagles travel to Macon-East Friday to take on Glenwood in the first game of the state tournament.

The No. 5 seed Eagles will take on the No. 4 seed Gators at 8 a.m., with the winner advancing to take on the winner of the Macon-East/Edgewood game at 4 p.m. on Friday.

The loser of the Fort Dale/Glenwood game will play at 8 a.m. Saturday.

&#8220They've been a good group this year and they've done it with limited practice due to so many teams competing for limited practice space,” Fort Dale varsity head coach Josh Beverly said.

Beverly said Williams Johnson, junior varsity head coach, has done a great job with the team this season and he is looking forward to having many of the players playing varsity ball in the future.

&#8220It's going to help us out a lot in the future with the experience they are getting,” Beverly said of the impact the JV will have on the varsity in years to come.

In just Fort Dale's second season of junior varsity baseball, the Eagles are 20-7 in two years.

&#8220This group has just geled together so well and gotten after it,” Beverly said.
