The Fort Dale Academy varsity baseball team fell out of playoff contention over the weekend as the Hooper Colts dashed the Eagles' hopes, 11-9.

Despite the Eagles taking a one-run lead in the third inning, the Colts rallied back in the fourth inning to score five runs, thus sealing the victory.

&#8220It's disappointing, especially for our seniors,” Fort Dale head coach Josh Beverly said. &#8220We put ourselves in that situation and we had ourselves in good position, but we just didn't make the right play at the right time.”

Adam Vickery, Blake Mullins, Hunter Smith and Jeffrey Stead each finished with two hits for the Eagles. Cory Johnson added a homerun in the seventh.

On defense, the Eagles made six errors.

The Eagles return to action Thursday as they play host to the Crenshaw Christian Academy Cougars at 4 p.m.

Escambia 2, Fort Dale 1

The Escambia Academy Cougars took advantage of two Fort Dale errors and scored two runs in the final inning Tuesday to take the win over the Eagles, 2-1.

Offensively for the Eagles, Hunter Smith had a team-high two hits while Adam Vickery and Cory Johnson each had one.

&#8220We hit the ball well, but we hit it right at them,” Beverly said. &#8220It wasn't too much of an offensive show.”
