Nationals get royal treatment in win

Despite a late charge by the Royals, the Nationals scored five runs in the second inning Friday and it proved to be enough as they held on for Dixie Youth victory, 9-6.

David Miller led the Nationals in hitting, going 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Harper Vinson was 1-for-3 with two runs scored, Mathew Bender was 1-for-3 with a run scored and Brady Clark was 1-for-2 with a run scored for the Nationals.

Seth Glass, Davis Crocker, Julius Lymon and Paul Hartley also each scored a run in the win.

For the Royals, Dustin Moorhead, John Dunn and Forest Luker were each 1-for-2 with a run scored while Ryan Taylor was 1-for-1 with two runs scored.

Timmy Gorum also scored a run for the Royals.

Connally Walters struck out nine batters in the win and Roscoe Moorhead struck out 10 despite the loss.

The Nationals will take on the Rangers Friday at 7:30 p.m., and the Royals will take on the Orioles at 6 p.m.

Orioles 4, Rangers 3

Toby King and Caleb Whigham each scattered a double and scored a run Friday to help lift the Orioles over the Rangers, 4-3.

Andy Burns and Cade Tillery were also each 1-for-2 for the Orioles (2-0) while Jeffrey Fuller and Reginald Bennett each scored a run in the win.

For the Rangers (1-1), Chase Whiddon was 2-for-2 with a run scored, Chip Taylor and Wilson Lowe were each 1-for-2 and Wesley Scott was 1-for-1 with a double.

Dylan Jones and Caleb Christ also each scored a run for the Rangers.

The Orioles will take on the Royals Friday at 6 p.m., and the Rangers will take on the Nationals at 7:30 p.m.
