Rangers take win over Royals; Nationals defeat Orioles

Despite a late charge, the Rangers were able to hold off the Royals Tuesday night, 4-3.

Chip Taylor and Chase Whiddon scored for the Rangers in the first inning, but the Royals quickly answered.

The Rangers added a run in the third and another in the fourth, which proved to be the difference in the game.

Offensively for the Rangers (2-1), Taylor was 1-for-1 and Dylan Jones was 1-for-2, including a double.

Michael Meyers and Walker Trawick also each scored a run in the win.

For the Royals (0-3), John Dunn and Ryan Taylor were each 2-for-2 while Dustin Moorhead and Timmy Gorham each scored a run.

The Rangers will return to action Tuesday as they take on the Orioles at 6 p.m.

The Royals will take on the Nationals at 7:30 p.m.

Nationals 3, Orioles 2

Connally Walters scored the winning run and was 2-for-2 with a double Tuesday to help lift the Nationals past the Orioles, 3-2.

Harper Vinson was also 2-for-2 with a double and a run scored for the Nationals (2-1) while Paul Hartley was 1-for-2 with a run scored.

For the Orioles (2-1), Bruce Jones was 2-for-2, including a double, while Luke Hamm was 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Briar Kirby also scored a run in the win.

The Nationals will return to action Tuesday as they take on the Royals at 7:30 p.m. The Orioles will take on the Rangers at 6 p.m.
