Nimmer shuts down A#039;s

Rush Nimmer threw a one-hit shutout Monday night as the Red Sox opened the 2007 Dixie Boys season with a win over the A's, 7-0.

Offensively for the Sox (1-0), Hunter Harrell was a homerun shy of the cycle, going 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and two runs scored.

Grey Vinson was 2-for-3 with a run scored, Jonathan Scott was 1-for-2 with a triple and Burkett was 1-for-3 with two runs scored.

Stephen Till and Brett Armstrong also each scored a run in the win.

For the A's (0-1), Dillon Frazier scattered the only hit in the third inning with a single.

The Red Sox will take on the Cubs Thursday at 7:45 p.m., while the A's will take on the Braves at 6 p.m.

Braves 26, Cubs 0

Nine players on the Braves roster scored at least two runs Monday night en route to a runaway victory over the Cubs, 26-0.

All nine players also each had at least one hit, including a homerun by Daniel Frazier in the first inning and a double by Nathan Branum in the second.

Scoring for the Braves (1-0) was Branum, Frazier and Jeremy McGinty each with four runs, Hunter Armstrong and Levi Ray with three runs apiece and Eli Blackmon, Mitch Young, Dalton Burns and Kendrick Thomas with two runs apiece.

Rio Knight had the lone hit for the Cubs.

The Braves will take on the A's Thursday at 6 p.m., while the Red Sox will take on the Cubs at 7:45 p.m.
