Hood almost cycles in win

Charlie Hood was a single short of hitting for the cycle Monday as the Lady Tide rallied to take the come-from-behind Dixie Angels win over the Yellow Jackets, 14-12.

Hood was the leading hitter for the Lady Tide (2-5), going 3-for-3 with a homerun, triple, double and two runs scored, while Mallory Conway and Callie Waite were 3-for-3 with three runs scored.

Lekonna Powell, Alexis Landrum and Alexia Johnson each had two hits and Brittany Suris had one in the win.

For the Yellow Jackets (2-5), Ashlyn McKeown was 3-for-3 with a homerun and Tykeria Peagler was 3-for-3 with a double and a triple.

Breanna Clark, Hannah Owens, Jessica McNaughton and Tykeria Crenshaw each had two hits and Hannah Reaves, Morgan Perdue and Mya Coleman each had one.

The Lady Tide will take on the Rebels Thursday at 6 p.m., and the Yellow Jackets will take on the Blue Jays at 7:30 p.m.

Rebels 20, Blue Jays 7

Every player on the Rebels' roster got a hit Monday as the Rebels remained undefeated by downing the Blue Jays, 20-7.

Carmen Till led the Rebels (7-0) with three hits, including a homerun, while Alex Merry, Kindal Harrell, Katelyn Brooks, Emily Webster, Sarah Owens, Raneiyah Smith, Iesha Powell and Keauna Steele each had two hits and Taylor King, Taylor Waller, Tori Simmons and Janazia Thompson each had one.

For the Blue Jays (3-4), Chelsey Wink, Devin Duke, Mary Glenn Fuller and Kirsten Jordan each had two hits, including a homerun by Jordan in the fourth inning, while Renee Mayberry, Rhiya Daniel and Olivia Foster each had one, including a homerun by Foster in the third inning.

The Rebels will take on the Lady Tide Thursday at 6 p.m., and the Blue Jays will take on the Yellow Jackets at 7:30 p.m.
