n Stinson to perform at Midway church

&#8220In His Ways” featuring Willie Stinson will be performing at Midway Community Church on Saturday, May 12. The fellowship will begin at 6 p.m. followed by a singing at 7 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend. A love offering for the church will be taken.

n New time for Saturday Night Singing

n Wesley Chapel Cemetery Meeting

Wesley Chapel Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting Saturday, May 12, 2007 beginning at 2 p.m. at the cemetery grounds. All interested parties are invited to attend.

n Optimist Club Banquet

The Butler County Optimist Club's Annual Banquet is slated for 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 12 at the Greenville Boys and Girls Club. &#8220Challenging Our Youth of Today” is the theme with Coach Bryant Vincent of Greenville High as the speaker. n Law Enforcement Memorial Service

In recognition of National Police Week, a law enforcement memorial service will held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 16 in front of city hall in Greenville. Refreshments will be served; the public is invited.

n BOE Regular Meeting

The Butler County Board of Education will conduct its next regular meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 17 at the Butler County BOE Boardroom at 215 Administrative Drive. The public is encouraged to attend.

n Bethel Methodist Church Memorial Service

Bethel Methodist Church will hold its annual Memorial Service (Decoration Day) at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2007.

n CMN Trail Ride

The Children's Miracle Network Trail Ride is slated for Saturday, May 19 at the Henry County Horse and Saddle Club. Ride begins at 1:30 p.m. In the event of rain, ride will be re-scheduled for Sat., June 2. Admission is $15 for riders and $5 for non-riders. n OCAP Head Start applications

OCAP Head Start is now accepting applications for children, ages 3 to 5 for the 2007-2008 school year. The child must be three years old by Sept. 2, 2007. Applications are being taken Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the following Head Start centers: Greenville, 334-382-8034; Luverne, 334-335-3909, and Georgiana, 334-376-5331.

Requirements are: birth certificate, physical or Medicaid screening, blue shot record, proof of income, Social Security numbers of all family members in household, food stamp card and Medicaid card or insurance information. Head Start is available for all children regardless of race, color, creed, religion, sex, disability or national origin.
