The Fort Dale Academy Eagles closed out spring practice Friday, ending two weeks of preparation for the 2007 season.
“We had a pretty good spring,” Fort Dale head coach James “Speed” Sampley said. “The enthusiam was good and it's hard this time of year to get the kids that excited in the spring.”
Sampley said the Eagles achieved the goals he set out for the spring and the team got a lot of work done on the line of scrimmage.
Sampley also noted the play of Davis Watts, who emrged as the leading candidate to replace Ty Newton as the Eagles' starting quarterback.
After finals are over, the Eagles will begin running and lifting weights.
The Eagles will likely play in several 7-on-7 camps during the summer against teams like Morgan, Hooper and Lowndes since the distance between each school is minimal.
