Rangers clinch Dixie Youth championship

Chase Whiddon scored the winning run Tuesday to give the Rangers the 1-0 Dixie Youth victory over the Orioles, thus clinching the league championship.

Offensively for the Rangers (10-4), Dylan Jones was 2-for-2 while Whiddon was 1-for-3 with a run scored.

For the Orioles (8-6), Toby King and Caleb Whigham were each 1-for-2.

Chip Taylor struck out 12 batters for the Rangers in the win.

Royals 8, Nationals 2

The Royals batted around and scored six runs in the third inning Tuesday to break open the lead and take the win over the Nationals, 8-2.

At the plate for the Royals (6-8), Ryan Taylor was 1-for-2 with a run scored, Roscoe Moorhead and Tristen Price were each 1-for-2, Dustin Moorhead scored two runs and John Dunn, Forrest Luker, Ben Presley, Colby Mansman and Brandon Miller each scored one.

For the Nationals (3-11), Davis Crocker was 1-for-2 and Seth Glass and Brady Clark each scored a run.

The Royals close out the 2007 season in third place while the Nationals finished in last.

Dixie Majors

Rangers 1, Braves 0

Ronald Scott scored the winning run in extra innings Thursday as the Rangers handed the Braves their first Dixie Majors loss of the season, 1-0.

Chris Shows and Reco Johnson were each 2-for-3 for the Rangers (5-2), while Andre Paige was 1-for-1, Ronald Scott was 1-for-3 with a run scored and Kenny Peterson was 1-for-2.

For the Braves, Hunter Smith was 1-for-2, Alex Tindal, Paul Whigham and Stephen Croley were each 1-for-3 and Ty Newton was 1-for-4.

The Rangers will take on the Nationals Monday at 6 p.m., and the Braves will take on the A's at 8 p.m.

A's 20, Nationals 7

The A's batted around and scored 11 runs in the first inning Thursday and never looked back en route to the win over the Nationals, 20-7.

Offensively for the A's (3-5), Rocky Harrell was 2-for-2 with a triple and a run scored, Brantley McKeown was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, David Taylor was 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and a run scored, Cory Folds was 2-forf-4 with two runs scored, Hunter Paul was 1-for-2 with a double and two runs scored, Leo Bowen was 1-for-3 with three runs scored, Jeffrey Stead was 1-for-1 with an inside-the-park homerun, David Stephenson scored four runs, Brandon Croley scored two and derrick Rhodes and Joe Sipper each scored one.

For the Nationals (0-7), Demario McCall was 2-for-2 with a double, Jeffrey Searight was 1-for-2 with two runs scored, Derrell Robinson was 1-for-2 with a run scored and DeAngelo Thompson, Reco Johnson and Megale Boone each scored a run.

The A's will take on the Braves Monday at 8 p.m., and the Nationals will take on the Rangers at 6 p.m.

Rangers 12, A's 3

The Rangers batted around and scored nine runs in the fourth inning Tuesday to take the easy win over the A's, 12-3.

Offensively for the Rangers (4-2), Jamie Busch was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and a run scored, Donald Scott was 2-for-3 with a run scored, Ronald Scott was 1-for-4 with a triple, three RBIs and a run scored, Jerrod Lee was 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored, Terrence Whittle was 1-for-1 with three runs scored, Reco Johnson was 1-for-3 with two runs scored, Chris Shows was 1-for-4 with a run scored and Andre Paige and Adones Peterson were each 1-for-3 with a run scored.

For the A's (2-5), Leo Bowen was 1-for-1 with a run scored, Brantley McKeown was 1-for-2 and Brandon Croley and Jeffrey Stead each scored a run.

The Rangers will take on the Nationals Monday at 6 p.m., and the A's will take on the Braves at 8 p.m.

Dixie Boys

Braves 8, A's 2

The Braves scored eight runs in the final inning Tuesday to take the come-from-behind Dixie Boys victory over the A's, 8-2.

At the plate for the Braves (10-4), Nathan Branum was 3-for-4 with a homerun and a run scored, Stewart Moody was 2-for-3, Eli Blackmon was 2-for-4 with a run scored, Dalton Burns was 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored, Kendrick Thomas was 1-for-2 with a run scored, Daniel Frazier and Jeremy McGinty were each 1-for-3 with a run scored and Hunter Armstrong and Mitch Young each scored a run in the final game of the season.

For the A's (6-8), Jerome Cook was 1-for-2 with a run scored, Dillon Frazier was 1-for-3 and Caleb Parsons scored a run.

Branum struck out 12 batters in the win for the Braves.

The Braves closed out the 2007 Dixie Boys season in second place while the A's finished in third.

Red Sox 17, Cubs 0

Eight Red Sox batters had at least two hits and all 12 players had a hit Tuesday as the Sox closed out the 2007 season on top with a win over the Cubs, 17-0.

Offensively for the Red Sox (12-2), Hunter Harrell was 3-for-3 with three runs scored, Cody Tesmer was 2-for-2 with two runs scored, Charlie Schofield was 2-for-2 with a double and two runs scored, Gray Vinson was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two runs scored, Wade Davis was 2-for-3 with three runs scored, Kevin Taylor and Brett Armstrong were each 2-for-3 with two runs scored, Chance Willis was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored, Todd Burkett was 1-for-1 with a double and Rush Nimmer was 1-for-3.

Schofield struck out eight of the nine Cubs batters he faced in the win.

The Red Sox close out the 2007 season as the Dixie Boys champions while the Cubs finished winless in last place.

Dixie Minors

Red Sox 4, Braves 3

The Red Sox held off a late charge by the Braves Thursday and moved into first place in the league with the Dixie Minors victory, 4-3.

Offensively for the Red Sox (11-2), Joseph Peavy was 1-for-2 with a run scored, Ryan Burkett was 1-for-2, Nick Hartley was 1-for-3 with a run scored, Daniel Hall Autrey was 1-for-3 and Nathan Looney and Drake Cabe each scored a run.

For the Braves (10-3), Draklin Scoggins was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, Price Jones was 1-for-2 and Dalton Weeks scored a run.

The Red Sox will take on the Indians Monday at 6 p.m., and the Braves will take on the Yankees at 7:30 p.m.

Orioles 16, Indians 2

Kenny Harden, Jr., scored three runs Thursday to help lift the Orioles to victory over the Indians, 16-2.

At the plate for the Orioles (5-8), Devon Middleton was 2-for-2, Ross Till and Jaquan Lewis were each 1-for-2 with two runs scored, Dylan Brown was 1-for-2 with a run scored, Harden scored three runs, Colby Booker and Austin Brown each scored two runs and Cody Harrell, Mark Bradley, Chris Wilson, Brady Vincent and Chaz Yining each scored a run.

For the Indians (2-11), Cody Parker was 1-for-1 with a run scored, Deaton Owens was 1-for-2 and Will Smith scored a run.

The Orioles will take on the Yankees Thursday at 6 p.m., and the Indians will take on the Red Sox Monday at 6 p.m.

Mite league

Giants 14, Pirates 4

Nathan Scoggins, Kyler Weeks and Milick Bunch each scored three runs Thursday as the Giants took the Mite league victory over the Pirates to remain unbeaten, 14-4.

At the plate for the Giants, Scoggins, Weeks and Bunch each scored three runs, Chase Mansmann and Tray Johnson each scored two runs and Ravin Moody scored one.

For the Pirates (1-4), Tanner Cartwright, Mason Keen, Clay Newton and Logan Vickery each scored a run.

The Giants will take on the Yankees Thursday at 6 p.m., on Dunbar 2 and the Pirates will take on the Rangers at 7 p.m., on Dunbar 1.

Yankees 10, Mets 4

The Yankees scored eight runs over the final two innings Thursday to breakaway from the Mets and take the victory, 10-4.

Offensively for the Yankees (4-1), Tyreik McCall and Jeffrey Tillery each scored twice while Austin Nichols, Derius Mitchell, Kaleb Rinehart, John Kelly, Garrett Till and Nae Thomas each scored once.

For the Mets (0-5), Sidaryus Harris scored twice while Sullivan Harold and Ty Casey each scored once.

The Yankees will take on the Giants Thursday at 6 p.m., on Dunbar 2 and the Mets will take on the White Sox at 6 p.m., on Dunbar 1.

White Sox 14, Rangers 6

Five players scored two runs each Thursday as the White Sox shot down the Rangers, 14-6.

Mark Patterson, Brandon White, Benjamin Gafford, Anthony Sellers and Taylor Thomas each scored twice for the White Sox (3-2), while Skilar Moorer, Trevor Langford, Jacob Till and Jarrod Johnson each scored once.

For the Rangers (2-3), Tripp Richardson scored twice and Luke Taylor, Tyler Thompson, Keller Rogers and Ryan Miller each scored once.

The White Sox will take on the Mets Monday at 6 p.m., on Dunbar 1 and the Rangers will take on the Pirates at 7 p.m., on Dunbar 1.
