The Crenshaw County Commission announced this week that it had appointed David Smyth of Luverne as its new County Administrator.

He has been hired to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Doris Thomas who had served as Administrator for the past five years.

Smyth had been self-employed for approximately 25 years working in what was the first and oldest NISSAN dealership in Alabama.

It was sold to what is now TROY NISSAN.

He had also been the Secretary/Treasurer of the family petroleum business, J. D. Smyth, Distributor, during the same time period.

For over the last two years, he has been employed with Crenshaw County as Assistant

Administrator.

Smyth graduated from Crenshaw Christian Academy in 1977, from the University of Alabama with a B. S. in Business Administration in 1981, and from Jones School of Law with his Juris Doctorate in 1984.

He is married to Becky Smyth, and they have one daughter, Courtney, who is a sophomore at Troy University.

He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Smyth, Jr., of Luverne.
