Kevin Bowen was full of energy, enthusiasm and inspiration.

The Highland Home High School junior and South Luverne Baptist Church member looked as if he was having the time of his life as he danced, sang, rapped and tried to get the audience to its feet.

&#8220This was awesome,” he said about the third annual Back to School Blast this past Sunday evening. &#8220I've been a part of it all three years.”

&#8220I really love the singing - that's my favorite part,” he added. &#8220I think the singing helps bring God closer to you and your schools, and that's awesome.”

Bowen sang along with the group Silence.

Once outside, a group of Brantley Elementary School students could be found enjoying their hot dogs and hamburgers and each other's company.

&#8220I've been here the last two times, and it was awesome,” Kelsey Hall said. &#8220My favorite part was the music.”

Chandler Robertson, an eighth grader at Brantley School, agreed with Hall.

&#8220I thought the Auburn singer was cute,” she said shyly with a grin as the other girls laughed and agreed with her.

Morgan Harris said she enjoyed the rap song the best.

As far as getting back into the groove of school, these middle school students see the good and the bad of it.

&#8220I love school,” Sarah Driggers said. &#8220But I don't like homework.”

Madison Harris, a Brantley fifth grader, said she enjoyed seeing her friends at school, even though she didn't look forward to schoolwork in general.

Her buddy Sydnee Bryan completely agreed with her and added that the singing was her favorite part of the night.

&#8220I love the food!” Peyton Hill said, as she stuffed an Oreo in her mouth with a smile.
