The Andalusia Women’s Golf Association will be holding its 44th Invitational Golf Tournament on Sat., Sept. 27, at the Andalusia Country Club Golf Course.

The annual event will be a two-lady scramble with the field limited to the first 48 teams who sign up to play. The team players’ handicaps should be within six strokes of one another, and those with a larger margin between teammates will be adjusted down to six strokes above the lower team members’ handicap.

Registration will begin at 8 a.m. where coffee and breakfast treats will be served at the clubhouse. Play will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.

Prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third place teams in the championship, first, second and third flights. Additional prizes will be awarded to the player with the longest drive on a designated fairway and closest to the pin on Hole Nos. 3, 5, 9 and 12.

Any player who scores a hole-in-one on the No. 9 green will win a $10,000 prize.

A special “Sweet Sixteen” prize contest, sponsored by Kyle Gantt of Edward Jones, will offer several sweet treats to players on the No. 16 green. If a player’s drive is good enough to make a hole-in-one he or she will receive a $100 gift certificate redeemable at the Andalusia Country Club Pro Shop.

If a player’s drive lands inside the marked 10-foot circle around the flagstick he or she will receive a $16 gift certificate redeemable at the Andalusia Country Club Pro Shop.

All other prizes will be presented at the luncheon, after all the flights have finished.

The entry fee is $60 per player or $120 per team. The entry fee includes green/cart fees, breakfast, snacks and lunch.

Players may also pay $5 for two mulligans at the registration table.

The deadline for registration is Tues., Sept. 23, and non-golfers may pay a $10 social fee to join the group for the non-golfing activities.

Extra entertainment will include Friday night karaoke at 6:30 p.m. at the Andalusia Country Club.

Food and drink may be ordered at extra expense. If players wish to spend Friday night in Andalusia, the Days Inn and Best Western will offer a special rate.
