Theron “Lell” Savage

Theron “Lell” Bazell Savage, 88, passed away at his residence in Geneva County, Ala., Thurs., Oct. 16, 2008.
Funeral services were held Sat., Oct. 18, at 2 p.m. at Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Den Erwin officiating. Interment followed in the Florala Greenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Savage was a native of Geneva County and the son of the late Marlin Hickman Savage and Carrie Augusta Adams Savage. He excelled in sports while in school and was an excellent baseball player as a catcher and at the shortstop position. He was scheduled to enter the New York Yankees organization, but World War II called him to service in the Army Air Corps. After his discharge he entered into a private business and formed a security company. He was married to the late Stella Gull of Pennsylvania who passed away in 2000. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Andalusia.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Opal Marraman; and four brothers, Curtis Savage, Robert Savage, Joel Savage and Manual Savage.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Christopher (Judy) Savage; daughter, Betty Moore of North Carolina; and sister, Lucille Cox of Florala.
