Five finalists for Florala’s police chief were named Monday, and among those finalists are a former Covington County Sheriff, three current police chiefs and one retired Alabama Beverage Control Board agent.
Mayor Robert Williamson said he hopes interviews will be completed by Friday to allow for a public meet and greet Sunday with the three final candidates.
Finalists are former sheriff Anthony Clark; Clayton Police Chief Robert Patrick; Lockhart Police Chief Tim Hardage; Florala’s acting police chief Chris Jackson and Sonny Bedsole, a retired ABC agent.
Williamson said a question and answer session will be held during the reception and, if interested, the public is asked to submit questions for the next chief in writing to city hall no later than Friday. The reception will be held from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m.
Additionally, there are four finalists in the search for the city’s city clerk. They are interim city clerk Kathy Rathel, Sandra Cobb, Gwen Martin and Tracey Erwin.
A new clerk should be named by end of the month.
