County under weather watches, road closures reported in city

The severe weather moving through the county has prompted several road closures and areas of concern.

The Covington County Emergency Management Agency is currently monitoring those reports and has announced the following road closures:

In Andalusia: Albritton Road, Moore Road near AES, Pinewood Road and South Cotton Street.

No road closures have been reported with the county; however, EMA officials are reporting water is covering portions of Cty. Rd. 70 off U.S. 331 North and on Cty. Rd. 34.

Currently, the county is under the following watches and warnings:

Tornado warning until 9:15 a.m.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 9:30 a.m.

Flash Flood Warning until 10:15 a.m.

Tornado Watch until 2 p.m.

EMA officials are reporting the county will continue to receive a large amount of rainfall during the next several hours and is advising motorists to stay off the roadways if possible.
