Red Level 7th grade takes title at junior high tourney

Red Level’s seventh grade boys team won the county title at the Covington County Junior High Tournament, which was held Dec. 8-12 at Florala Middle School.
Red Level advanced to the championship game by defeating Pleasant Home 38-21 in the first round.
In the championship game, Red Level faced Straughn Middle for the title, with Red Level taking the championship by a score of 31-29. Dee Tolbert led Red Level with 23 points and 17 rebounds, Spencer Stallworth added seven points and five rebounds and Jonathan Coleman pulled down seven rebounds.
Straughn Middle defeated Red Level in the eighth grade boys championship game.
“I was extremely proud of these young men for being so determined throughout the year and for never giving up,” Red Level coach Randy McGlaun said. “I would like to applaud all the teams, coaches, parents and Florala Middle School for making this another enjoyable experience for the kids.”
Red Level players named to the all-tournament team were: eighth grade — Matthew Nolen and Caleb Varner; seventh grade — Dee Tolbert and Spencer Stallworth.
