A local businessman is missing and authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating him.

Jonathan O’Brien, 49, was reported missing by family members on Tuesday.

Covington County Sheriff’s Office investigator Greg Jackson said family members last reported seeing O’Brien, who is the owner of O’Brien Metals on State Hwy. 55, shortly after 7 a.m. Tuesday

“Mr. O’Brien was last seen in the Andalusia area driving a 2005 white Jeep Wrangler with a Crimson Tide ‘A’ on the driver’s side door early morning Tuesday,” Jackson said. “It is unknown what his last destination was, and we are asking for any information that might lead to his whereabouts.”

The vehicle is also equipped with an unknown Alabama “Dealer” tag.

O’Brien is described as 5-foot-8, weighing approximately 240 pounds with brown hair and green eyes.

“In situations like this, with a missing person, input from the public is invaluable,” Jackson said. “They are the eyes and ears of our community. Somewhere out there someone may have seen this vehicle or Mr. O’Brien, which is what we are hoping.”

Anyone having any information of O’Brien’s whereabouts is asked to call 334-427-4911.
