An Andalusia woman was injured when her tractor overturned Friday morning at her residence.

A CCSO spokesperson said that Marilyn Brooks was hurt shortly after 11 a.m., while she was attempting to remove azaleas from her yard, when the Ford 3000 tractor she was operating turned over and trapped her underneath.

Paton Morgan, who lives across the street from the residence, witnessed the accident and called for help.

“I was on the phone and I started to see a lot of smoke coming from across the road,” Morgan said. “I thought that maybe she was just working on the tractor at first, but when I realized she was hurt I jumped over the fence and checked to see if she was all right. She said no, so I called 911 and my stepfather and then I tried to flag someone down who was coming down (Moore Road) to help.”

The CCSO spokesperson added that neighbors tried to remove Brooks from under the tractor, but were unsuccessful in their efforts. A wrecker from Palmer and Sons was brought to the scene and operators were able to remove the tractor.

Brooks received minor injuries and was transported to Andalusia Regional Hospital by Advanced EMS.
