A tip from a concerned citizen landed three people in jail after Drug Task Force agents found 32 marijuana plants growing under an Opp home Tuesday.

A DTF spokesman said the home, located at 110 Martin St. in Opp, was owned by 25-year-old Andy Lee Carnley.

“On Tuesday, we received information that Carnley was growing marijuana plants under his house,” the DTF spokesman said. “We obtained a search warrant and when agents arrived they made contact with four individuals and two children.”

Those individuals were identified as Carnley, Amy Howard, 24; Jason Wayne Wambles, 25; and an unidentified 17-year-old juvenile.

“During the search we located some marijuana, several smoking devices, some paraphernalia that contained cocaine and the 32 marijuana plants growing under the house,” he said. “There were two growing lights installed under the house, that’s how the plants were getting light.”

Both Carnley and Howard were arrested and charged with first-degree possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and chemical endangerment of a child. Each was held on a $263,000 bond.

Wambles was charged with first-degree possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance and held on a $23,000 bond.

The 17-year-old juvenile was not charged and released back into a parent’s custody.

The two children — ages 7 and 3 — were placed with other family members.

“We can’t say it enough — concerned citizens are law enforcement’s best allies,” the spokesman said. “Without their help, our jobs would only be half done.”
