Two Andalusia residents were among the 31 people completing the Leadership Institute for Retirees training and honored on March 31st with a graduation ceremony at SARCOA in Dothan.

Irene Butler and Shirley Stokes, both of Andalusia, completed the class.

The Leadership Institute for Retirees is provided each year by SARCOA, the Southern Alabama Regional Council on Aging, which is the Area Agency on Aging for Barbour, Coffee, Covington, Dale, Geneva, Henry and Houston Counties. The training program is held at and jointly sponsored by Troy University of Dothan.

Training sessions began March 3rd and continued throughout the month each morning on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Training was provided on senior issues, benefits, programs and challenges. This was the fourth exciting year for the Leadership Institute, through which SARCOA is building a community of volunteer leaders and advocates.
