An Andalusia woman is in jail Friday after she allegedly robbed, kidnapped and severely assaulted her 65-year-old mother.

Lt. Mike Bowlan of the Andalusia Police Department said Frankie Louise Wilson, 44, is charged with one count of attempted murder, first degree robbery and first-degree kidnapping, as well as second-degree criminal trespassing, second-degree criminal mischief and reckless endangerment.

Details surrounding the incident are unclear, Bowlan said.

“Shortly after 3 a.m., 911 Command received a call of a disturbance on McDonald Street here in Andalusia,” Bowlan said. “When officers arrived, they found Wilson involved in a disturbance where there was damage done to the property. It was not her home, which is where the three later charges come into play.

“While (at the McDonald residence), officers received additional information of a possible assault victim on Lowe Avenue,” he said. “When they arrived, officers found Wilson’s 65-year-old mother, Gracie Mae Wilson, semiconscious inside the residence, where she had apparently been severely assaulted.”

Bowlan said the victim was transported to Andalusia Regional Hospital, but due to the extent of her injuries, was later transported to a larger hospital.

“At last communication, she was listed in serious condition,” he said.

Details surrounding both the incidents are still emerging, Bowlan said.

“The motive (behind the incidents) is unclear and it’s all still under investigation,” he said. “As a result, we are limiting the amount of information we’re releasing at this time.”

Upon her arrest, Wilson was transported to the Covington County Jail and held on a bond of a little more than $1 million.
