MONTGOMERY (AP) — Concerns about swine flu has prompted the Alabama High School Athletic Association to cancel all athletic events.

Steve Savarese, AHSAA executive director, said Wednesday night he made the decision after consulting with the group’s Medical Advisory Committee.

The decision means the state track and field championships set for May 1-2 at Gulf Shores and Troy will be rescheduled. Other postseason competition scheduled for May 4 was also postponed.

They include baseball, soccer, softball and golf.
