Chrysler wants to close state dealerships

Chrysler disclosed in a bankruptcy filing Thursday that it wants to close a quarter of its dealers in a matter of weeks, a strategy that might help save the company but would wipe out thousands of jobs.

The list of Alabama car dealers on Chrylser’s list of those it wants to close.

ANDERSON MOTOR COMPANY INC, LANETT. Losing Jeep franchise.

BONDY’S FORD INC, DOTHAN. Losing Jeep franchise but remaining open as a Ford dealer.

CLASSIC AUTOMOTIVE, INC, CULLMAN. Also sells Cadillacs, plans to remain open.

DON DRENNEN CHRYSLER JEEP INC, HOOVER. Also sells Buick, plans to remain open.

GLYNN SMITH CHEVROLET, INC., OPELIKA. Losing Jeep franchise, plans to remain open selling GM vehicles and Toyotas.

GREATER BIRMINGHAM DODGE, BIRMINGHAM. Closed last week.

HAIGLER ENTERPRISES LLC, GREENVILLE doing business as Greenville Motor Co. Also sells Chevrolet, not closing.

MORGAN HUCKABY AUTOMOTIVE INC, ANNISTON. d/b/a Superior Jeep Chrysler Hyundai. Also sells Hyundai and used cars, staying open.

PIERSON CHEVROLET INC, GADSDEN. Losing Jeep franchise, but will stay open selling Chevrolets.

SPARKMAN, SHEPARD & MORRIS P.C. CLOVERLEAF DECATUR, LLC, HUNTSVILLE. Closed. Filed for bankruptcy last year, agreed to liquidate during a hearing in March.

SUSAN SCHEIN CHEVROLET SUSAN SCHEIN CHRYSLER DODGE, INC., PELHAM. Losing Chrysler franchise, but will remain open as Chevrolet dealer.

TERRY SLIGH AUTOMOTIVE INC, ONEONTA. Losing Jeep and Chrysler, also sells Chevrolets. Did not immediately return call on plans.

VICTORY MOTOR COMPANY INC, PRATTVILLE. Closed last week, sold Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep solely.
