Meeker Barrow

Mr. Meeker Denzil “Teddy” Barrow, 90, of Red Level, died Mon., May 18, 2009, in an Andalusia hospital.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Fairmount Cemetery with the Rev. Clyde Northrop and the Rev. Drexel Copeland officiating. Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. today at Foreman Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Sara Barrow of Red Level; his daughter and son-in-law, Ramona Barrow Barlow and husband Steve of Andalusia; his grandchildren, Steven Barrow Barlow, James Meeker Barlow and Sarah Catherine Barlow; three nephews, Charles Jackson, Dale Jackson and Roane Jackson, and one niece, Christy Blakely.
Mr. Barrow was born in Conecuh County and moved to Red Level when he was 6 years old. He attended and graduated from Red Level School. After high school, he earned his pilot’s license and then attended college at The University of Texas. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy when World War II broke out. He attended UCLA for a while and then served his country in the Pacific theatre. After the war, Mr. Barrow returned to Red Level and started a successful mercantile business. He later founded Barrow Furniture Company and ran it until his retirement in 1979. Mr. Barrow was a member of Red Level Baptist Church for most of his life.
Pallbearers will be Steven Barlow, James Barlow, Jody Jackson, Joel Jackson, Bob Murphy, Joseph Oglesby and Ottis Reynolds.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Gideons.
