To the board members of the Lower Alabama Arts Coalition:
On behalf of all the citizens of the City of Andalusia, I wish to thank you for your efforts to improve the quality of life for the people of Andalusia and Covington County.
Through a greater exposure to a wide range of artistic programs you have elevated our awareness of and appreciation for the arts. This has had a great positive impact on our community and has certainly broadened our horizons. Our citizens, both young and old, have opportunities to learn about and create artistic expression on a level that has never before been attained in Andalusia.
With your staff of instructors you offer affordable classes in music, art, and drama as well as scholarships for those classes. I particularly appreciate the way you have taken art into the community to improve life here. For example, you have provided art projects and caring for the Andalusia Regional Hospital Rehab Unit and the Alabama State Children’s Rehab Center. You have partnered with local schools and LBWCC to create and exhibit works of budding artists, cartoonists and illustrators. The LAAC continues to set the bar ever higher each year with expanded agendas and innovative curricula.
As you embark on plans for your annual fund-raiser, “Art Off the Wall,” in conjunction with the Covington Arts Council, I applaud your efforts and wish you continued success. Please let me know how I may be of assistance to you as you work to grow and expand your positive influence upon our city.
Sincerely,
Mayor Earl V. Johnson
