An Opp man is facing an attempted murder charge after he allegedly shot at a man believed to be his stepfather on Father’s Day.
Sheriff Dennis Meeks said deputies were dispatched Sunday afternoon to a home on Babbie Road after receiving reports of shots fired during a domestic incident.
“When Opp Police officers arrived, they were able to detain Frankie Head, a 54-year-old black male,” Meeks said. “When deputies arrived and began gathering evidence, it was determined that Head had pulled a gun on another male at the scene and shot at him.
“It was also determined that Head had physically assaulted a female who lived at the residence,” he said.
The female, who was later identified as Head’s mother, was taken to Mizell Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The male, who is believed to be Head’s stepfather, was not identified and was not injured during the incident.
Head now faces charges of attempted murder and third-degree domestic violence. He was booked into the Covington County and is currently being held on a $503,000 bond.
