Looking for something to do this Fourth of July? If so, the cities of Andalusia and Opp have it covered.

Andalusia Mayor Earl Johnson said this year’s celebration will feature a concert and fireworks.

“This year, we have a free concert by ‘Two Piece & a Biscuit’ and of course, a great fireworks display to light up the night sky,” Johnson said. “We hope everyone comes out for a great time in Andalusia.”

Held at the Kiwanis Fairgrounds, the gates open at 5:30 p.m. The band will play from approximately 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. with fireworks to follow. Concessions will not be available.

“So, bring your cooler, a blanket or chairs and picnic at the fairgrounds while enjoying the country blues sound of the band,” Johnson said.

In Opp, the fireworks will be shot from three different locations at “dark-30,” and residents are asked to park at Lake Frank Jackson State Park.

There will be live music, free hot dogs and watermelon beginning at noon, said Tonitta Sauls, economic development director.

“We had a huge response last year,” Sauls said. “And we’re hoping for the same this year. If anything is different from last year, it’s just that it’s going to be better.

“If you don’t have plans, come on out and enjoy the food and fellowship,” she said.
