Wreck victim released from Mizell
The Andalusia man injured Friday in a two-vehicle accident was released from the hospital later that night, hospital officials said Monday.
Preliminary reports from the Alabama State Troopers showed Christopher M. Watson, 35, was transferred to Mizell Memorial Hospital to receive treatment for “life threatening” injuries immediately following Friday’s accident.
Mizell CFO Jana Wyatt said Watson was treated and eventually released Friday evening.
The accident, which occurred shortly before 9 a.m. at the intersection of County Road 85 and State Hwy. 299, claimed the life of 66-year-old William “Jerry” Barnes of Wing.
Reports show Barnes was traveling south when he failed to yield the right of way to Watson, who was traveling east on Alabama Highway 299.
Barnes was pronounced dead at the scene.
