Mr. John Clay Powell, 86, of Andalusia, died Mon., June 29, 2009, in the Andalusia hospital.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today at the Southside Baptist Church in Andalusia with the Rev. Bill Pritchett officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church 30 minutes prior to services.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Nan Powell of Andalusia; his daughters, Leonora (Kim) Sheffer and Mary (Jeff) Cross, both of Andalusia; his sons, Danny (Judy) Powell and Tommy (Mary) Powell, all of Andalusia; his grandchildren Nesha (Mark) Jones of Hoover, Peige (Terry) Josey, Hannah Cross, Maile Floyd, Joshua Sheffer, Heather Cross, and Heidi Cross, all of Andalusia; his great-grandchildren, Brannon Jones and Nolan Jones; and his sisters, Wynona Powell and Loraine Carter of Andalusia and Neva Carter of Winter Springs, Fla.
Mr. Powell is preceded in death by his son, John Mark Powell, and his sister, Mildred Powell Henley.
