Merrill Cawthon Taylor, 77, passed away on Sun., July 12, 2009, at his home in Crestview, Fla.
He was born in Andalusia on Aug. 5, 1931, to Robert Lee and Suzannah Jane Wiggins Taylor. He was a lifelong resident of the North Okaloosa County and south Alabama area. Merrill served his country in the United States Army.
He was preceeded in death by a grandchild, six brothers and his parents. He leaves behind five daughters, Jane Grice of Andalusia, Marsha Nichols of Pennsylvania, Kay Adams of Red Level, Cheryl Meeks and her husband, Darren, of Spanish Fort, and Vicki Taylor of North Carolina; three sisters, Irene Grover of Lawrenceville, Ga., Jean Campbell and her husband Danny of Crestview, Fla., and Barbara Sue Adams and her husband Purl Jr. of Crestview, Fla. He also leaves behind 12 wonderful grandchildren and six precious great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held today, Tues., July 14, at 3 p.m. at the Chapel of Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Magnolia Baptist Church Cemetery. Whitehurst-Powell is entrusted with the arrangements.
