Miss’y Blake

Miss’y Gloria Jean Blake was born on Feb. 22, 1938, in Birmingham. She is the daughter of the late Bishop J. B. and Miss’y Willie Mason. She was a graduate of A. H. Parker High School in Birmingham.
For many years, Ms. Blake lived in Andalusia where she served as the assistant administrator of the William Christian Old Folks Home. She also served as church musician at The Church Of The Living God (C.W.F.F.) on Tucker St. (formerly Prestwood St.), here in Andalusia. She departed this life on Monday morning, July 27, 2009.
She leaves to cherish her memories four sisters, six children, four sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, a cousin, 24 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services for Sister Blake will be held on Sat., Aug. 1, 2009, beginning at 11 a.m. from The Church Of The Living God, 608 Tucker St. in Andalusia. Elder Bennie Swain will officiate and Elder Larry Blackmon will deliver the message. Final rights and interment will follow at The Marshal Memorial Cemetery.
