Straughn Middle School’s Johnny Owens’ 1-yard touchdown run on fourth-and-goal led to his team’s 6-0 victory over Greenville on Thursday night in Greenville.

“It was a really wet night,” Straughn coach Benjie Kinsaul said. “It helped us on the wet night because they run out of the shotgun and they had a few fumbles.

“We then settled down and adjusted to their offense,” he said. “I was proud of the way the defense played as well as the offense. They did a good job of blocking and running and holding onto the ball.”

Straughn will travel to play city rival Andalusia next Thursday night. The seventh grade team will start at 5:30 p.m.
