‘Bank on art’ this Sunday

The life of a banker can be busy and stressful— addled customers, endless streams of numbers, fluctuating financial markets. But over the next three weeks at the Lower Alabama Arts Center, local bankers will get a chance to show off another side of their lives — the artistic side.

The LAAC will host the “Banking on the Arts: A Collection of Works by Local Bankers” exhibition, starting with a reception Sunday and continuing through Thurs., Oct. 15.

“The title pretty much tells you what the show is about,” said LAAC director Amy Henderson. “There are some bankers in the area who have done some artwork, and we’re just kind of showcasing that. The nice thing about these kinds of shows is that it gives some people who live here the chance to show some of the other talents they have.”

The reception will be Sunday from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the LAAC, located at 513 E. Three Notch St. in Andalusia. The show will continue until Oct. 15, and be open during normal LAAC hours.

Henderson said the show features about 15 pieces of artwork from about eight to 10 different Covington County artists who have some connection to the banking profession.
