Sidney Rawls

Sidney Rawden Rawls, son of the late Rawden Ralph Rawls and Lillie Mae Rawls, died Thurs., Sept. 24, 2009, following surgery and a lengthy hospitalization.
Funeral services were held at the Brown-Foreman Funeral Home on Martin Luther King Parkway East on Mon., Sept. 28, at 11 a.m. Interment followed at Rawls Baptist Church cemetery after the service.
Born in Luverne, during the time his father was employed by the state highway department, Sidney later moved with his parents and siblings to the rural community of Rawls, located near Gantt.
Following his graduation from Andalusia High School, Sidney earned a bachelor of science degree from the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa. A nature lover, he enjoyed gardening and caring for his horses. For a number of years he has been a member of the First Baptist Church of Andalusia and served as a member of the choir.
Sidney was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Fann R Bozeman; and one brother, Charles Mark Rawls.
Surviving are two brothers, Joe L. (Mary) Rawls and David J (Sondra) Rawls; three sisters, Marjoryn R. (Langley) Creighton, Rebecca R. (Clyde) Moody, and Charlotte R. (Sam) Latham; and numerous nieces and nephews.
