The Rev. C. B. “Buster” Odom, 82, of Red Level, died Thurs., Oct. 1, 2009, in Abbeville.
A “Home Going Celebration” will be held today, Sat., Oct. 3, at 7 p.m. at the Keahey Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the Keahey Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be Sun., Oct. 4, at 3 p.m. at the Garden of Memory Cemetery in Headland. Officiating will be his sons, the Rev. Danny Odom and Mickey Odom.
Special music will be provided by Ramona Odom and Cameron Odom.
He is survived by his sons, Mickey David (Becky) Odom of Andalusia and Maj. (Ret.) Danny (Ramona) Odom of Headland; brothers, Jack Odom and Jim (Betty) Odom, all of Andalusia; grandchildren, Matthew Owens, Nickey Walker, Kevin Matthews, Beth Clayton, Cameron Odom and Sandi Murray; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and special friends, William and Kim Brashier.
Pallbearers will be Steve Odom, Robert Paige, Edwin Paige, Larry Paige, Mike Odom and Billy Jack Odom.
The Rev. Odom was preceded in death by his wife, Alene Odom; father and mother, Benjamin G. Odom and Elizabeth Worley Odom; four sisters, Bertie May Newby, Ruby Owens, Myrtie Phillips and Boncile Odom; three brothers, Vermon Odom, Herman Lee (Jay Bird) Odom and James H. (Ham) Odom.
He was a veteran of World War II.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Henry County Health and Rehabilitation Center, Alzheimer’s unit, in Abbeville.
The family will be at the residence of Jim Odom, 204 Lake Street in Andalusia.
