Drug Task Force agents discovered a meth lab in Covington County Wednesday in a U.S. Hwy. 84 residence. Its alleged operators are now in jail and are being held under a more than $200,000 bond.

DTF agent Paul Hudson said agents made their first trip to the Opp residence of Becky Fehnel, 42, and Scott Fietzek, 41, to investigate allegations of the possible manufacturing of methamphetamine.

Agents arrived to an empty house, he said.

“We couldn’t get anyone to answer the door,” Hudson said. “Later, we got information that (the couple) had left the residence and was hiding in the woods. We went back to the house but couldn’t locate them.”

Hudson said agents had enough information to obtain a search warrant. He said when the group returned to execute the warrant, the couple was found inside, attempting to rid the home of evidence.

“Agents found Fietzek attempting to flush a plastic bag containing meth down the toilet,” he said. “Fehnel was also inside the home as well.”

Each was charged with manufacturing a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia and placed in the Covington County Jail, where they remained Thursday under a $213,000 bond.
