A head-on collision on Andalusia’s Martin Luther King Jr. Expressway seriously injured a mother and 8-year-old son shortly after 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
When the Star-News went to press, Andalusia Police’s Lt. Paul Dean said the identities of the wreck victims were not being released , and the wreck was still under investigation.
“I can say the wreck occurred just in front of the Mr. Henry’s on MLK and involved a Ford F-150 and an Oldsmobile Alero,” Dean said. “The driver and passenger of the Oldsmobile, the mother and son, suffered non-life threatening injuries; however those injuries did require them to be transferred to a Florida hospital.”
The driver of the Ford was not seriously injured during the accident.
As of Thursday afternoon, reports indicate the boy was undergoing plastic surgery to repair injuries to his head, and his mother sustained several broken bones.
