Hospital employees ‘move in’ Friday

As snow fell and local governments ordered roads closed yesterday, Andalusia Regional Hospital turned some of its rooms into temporary living quarters for staff members.
CEO Mark Dooley said, “For the people who were here working Thursday night who didn’t feel safe going home, we found empty rooms and put them in beds.
“For those coming in at (for the Friday night shift), we called them at about noon and told them if they didn’t think they were going to be able to make it in later, come on in.”
Those employees also were accommodated with rooms.
“We probably have between 15 and 20 people here,” Dooley said. “We’ve had good response from everybody.”
At press time, no serious accidents had been reported.
“But the scanner is going off, one accident after the other,” Dooley said. “We’ve got plenty of staff here if anything serious happens.”
