‘Fat Tuesday’ pancake supper set

St. Mary’s Episcopal Church will host its annual Mardi Gras pancake supper from 5 until 7:30 p.m. tonight.

Today is “fat Tuesday,” the last day of feasting and revelry before Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent tomorrow.

Traditionally, pancakes were served because many gave up foods made with flour during the 40-day period, and households didn’t want the flour to go to waste.

The menu includes pancakes, sausage, biscuits and tomato gravy. The cost is $5 for adults.
