An exciting western weekend awaits cowboys and cowgirls of all ages when the 23rd Annual Andalusia Civitan Rodeo rides into the Covington Center Arena in Andalusia, Fri. and Sat., Feb. 26-27.

Trick rider Justin Dickerson will perform both nights. He has performed at three Dixie Stampede locations. His Roman Riding act, standing astride two galloping horses, is performed on a set of beautiful American Tobiano paint horses. He performs trick riding acts on the same horses – vaulting, reverse and high croupers, drags and much more.

Sanctioned by the Professional Cowboy Association, the Civitan Rodeo features saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, bareback riding, team roping, barrel racing, calf robbing, ladies’ breakaway roping, and bull riding.

Gates open at 6 p.m. Entertainment begins at 6:30 p.m. Rodeo events will begin at 7:30 p.m. with the Grand Entry.

Kids ages 3-8 will have the opportunity to search for money in the Gold Rush, while ages 8-12 can win the prize in the calf scramble. There also will be a Spacewalk Inflatables play area for kids.

Tickets for children and senior adults age 60 and older will be $6 at the door. Children 5 years and younger are admitted free. Adult tickets are $12 at the gate. There will be no reserved seating.

During the past two decades, more than $150,000 in proceeds from the rodeo have benefited local charities. Civitans live up to their motto, “Builders of Good Citizenship,” by helping the physically and mentally handicapped, as well as providing youth scholarships.
