A two-vehicle accident on Andalusia’s Church Street sent four people to the hospital and stalled lunchtime traffic for a half-hour Monday.
The accident occurred just after 11:30 a.m. between an early-2000 model Nissan Frontier pick-up truck and an early-1990 model Oldsmobile at the intersection of Church Street and Opp Avenue, in front of Region’s Bank.
Assistant Chief Mike Bowlan said each of the vehicle’s occupants – one in the Nissan and three in the Oldsmobile – were transported to Andalusia Regional Hospital for treatment.
“Luckily for everyone involved, no one appeared to have suffered any life-threatening injuries,” Bowlan said.
Traffic was re-routed until shortly before noon when the vehicles were removed from the scene.
Details surrounding the accident are currently under investigation by the Andalusia Police Department, and the identities of those involved were not immediately known.
