The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) presented a check Tuesday for $25,904 in Emergency Watershed Protection (EWP) funds the City of Andalusia for damages caused by heavy rains during September and October of 2009.
A pipe drop structure was installed to stabilize gullies threatening a power pole, buried fiber optic phone lines, a water main, storm drain pipes and a paved street.
The emergency situation in the City of Andalusia was completed in 10 days.
The EWP program was set up by Congress to respond to emergencies created by natural disasters and was designed to relieve imminent hazards to life and property caused by floods, fires, windstorms and other natural occurrences.
