County to house federal inmates again?
Monday, county commissioners will discuss a proposed agreement with the federal department of corrections to house federal inmates in the Covington County Jail.
If granted, this will be the second instance of federal prisoners being housed locally. In January 2009, federal authorities pulled the inmate contract after an inmate escaped on New Year’s Day.
The meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the commission chambers on Hillcrest Drive in Andalusia.
