ORANJESTAD, Aruba (AP) — Prosecutors in Aruba say divers found nothing but rocks and coral while searching for the remains of missing Alabama teen Natalee Holloway.
Spokeswoman Ann Angela says police dove several times after an American couple produced an underwater photo of what they believed might have been her remains. The couple went diving in Aruba last year.
Angela says divers didn’t find any items shown in the photo.
The 18-year-old from Mountain Brook, Ala., disappeared in Aruba in 2005 and was last seen leaving a bar with Joran van der Sloot on the final night of a high school graduation trip. Prosecutors say they lack evidence to charge him.
Police believe the couple from Manheim, Pa. likely zoomed in on coral, giving the impression it might be a skull and bones.
