The local Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries office is closed.
Capt. Don Herring, who is retiring, said anyone with wildlife complaints must now contact the Enterprise office.
“But just because the office doors aren’t open, doesn’t mean the local conservation officers are not in the county working,” Herring said. “All complaints will be worked and the county will be patrolled.”
The office, which opened locally in 1987, officially closed Wednesday.
All local personnel will operate out of the Enterprise office and can be reached at 334-347-9467.
“I know the people of Covington County are going to miss being able to just drop by the office, but anytime there is a concern, all they have to do is call,” Herring said. “Officers Keith Kipp and Randall Lee will respond.
“Thanks to the Covington County sportsmen and landowners, our time here at this office has passed quickly,” he said. “People should remember that our guys are still going to work diligently to respond to local landowners, hunters and fishermen and any complaints they might have. All you have to do is call.”
Herring said complaints may also be submitted to the Montgomery office at 334-242-3468.
