Monday’s “Taste of Covington County,” the annual Covington County Chapter of the American Red Cross fundraiser, met and exceeded its $10,000 goal, said executive director Merrill Davis.

“We had 22 different food vendors, 36 sponsors, and more than 400 people to make one great evening of fundraising,” he said. “This year’s event was especially fun, because we surpassed our goal. We have received donations and pledges from the event in the amount of $10, 844 with more still coming in. This is all made possible because of the generosity of the food vendors, sponsors, and patrons who participated in this great event.”

Davis said couldn’t expressed enough thanks to those who made the event possible.

“Our county is very fortunate to have its own American Red Cross Chapter, and Monday night is the reason why,” he said. “It takes a community to sustain the efforts of the Red Cross mission and that is what we have, the support of the community.”
