An unidentified Covington County woman escaped injury by a “finger’s width,” Wednesday following a one-vehicle accident on Alabama Hwy. 55.

Emergency personnel and law enforcement were called to the accident site “near the Yellow River Catfish Farms” shortly after 6 p.m. The woman apparently had a medical emergency that caused her vehicle to leave the roadway and stopped only a “finger’s width” from a telephone pole, emergency personnel said.

“God had a hand on her,” one emergency worker said.

Alabama State Troopers, Covington County Sheriff’s deputies, Red Oak Volunteer Fire Department and Advanced EMS all responded to the accident.
