MIRIAM RUDD HOLLEY

Miriam Rudd Holley, 85, a resident of Creekside Senior Village, in Pensacola, Fla., passed away on June 1, 2010, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s.

She was born March 21, 1925, in Covington County and grew up near Florala in the Damascus Community. She graduated from Covington County High School in 1943. During WWII she lived in Atlanta, where she worked for a publishing company. From then until 1973, she was a devoted minister’s wife and stay-at-home mother. She began work in 1973 in the civil division of the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, retiring as principal clerk in 1975. She was a long-time, devoted member of Olive Baptist Church.

She is predeceased by her parents, Burrell Wilson Rudd and Lena Graham Justice Rudd.

She is survived by her daughter, Joyce (George) White of Pensacola; her son, Kenneth (Vivian) of Birmingham; brothers, Ronald (Ichiko) Rudd of Henderson, Nev., Rodney (Jimmie Nell) Rudd of Valrico, Fla., and Wayne (Norma) Rudd of Apex, N.C.; sister-in-law, Ruth (Harold) Wise of Kinston; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Fri., June 4, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Trahan Family Funeral Home in Pensacola. Funeral services will be held on Sat., June 5, at 10 a.m. also at the funeral home, with the Rev. Eugene Steele officiating. Graveside services and burial will follow at Andalusia Memorial Cemetery at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Larry Wise officiating.

Trahan Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The family is deeply grateful for the kindness and skill of her caretakers at Creekside Senior Village and Julie Brigham of Emerald Coast Hospice. WENDY THREATT WOOD

Wendy Threatt Wood, 41 of Andalusia, a very devoted mother to her two sons, Mason and Eli, lost her nine year battle with cancer on Tues., June 1, 2010.

She never missed the opportunity to be involved in any activities of her sons’ life. She showed courage, faith and desire to fight and overcame many obstacles she faced. This is a true statement of her love for sons, Mason and Eli. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Fri., June 4, from Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Larry Turman officiating and burial following in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from tonight from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Foreman Funeral Home.

She is survived by her much loved sons, Mason Harold Wood and Elijah Dale Wood, both of Andalusia; her parents, Jimmy and Sue Threatt of Andalusia; her brothers, Randy Taylor and Eddie Taylor; sisters and brothers-in-law, Danelle and Wayne Kyser and Sissy and Bubba Dye, all of Andalusia; her nieces and nephews, Kody Taylor, Marissa Taylor, Johnathon Williamson, Joe Kyser, Trae Bowen and Sara Grace Dye, her great nephews, Cooper Williamson and BradLynn Williamson; and many, many friends.

The Rev. David Cordell, 78, of Andalusia, died Tues., June 1, 2010, in the Andalusia Hospital.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Foreman Funeral Home.
